Sadly, the creator of the Rainbow Flag, Gilbert Baker died on 31 March 2017/Rainbow flag designer Gilbert Baker born in 1951 also an activist of lgbtq and artist, who used to help friends make banners for protests and marches. In order to pay tribute to Gilbert Baker, NewFest & NYC Pride have turned to Fontself and Animography and designed a free typeface as a tribute to Rainbow Flag; It’s called ‘Gilbert’, named after Mr.Baker.
Its versatility in the design is ideal for headlines, logotypes and branding, billboards, greeting and party invitations, posters and packaging, blog banners and web headers, meal and recipe cards, greeting postcards and so on.
